2.5 Retire an Instrument

An instrument is considered “retired” when it will no longer be used.  The primary reasons for retiring an instrument are when it has reached the robot-use maximum, reached the sterile reprocessing maximum or has some type of device failure or defect.  CycleTrak will allow you to designate an instrument as “retired” along with a reason for the retirement.

 

If an instrument is active, the Active? field (see below) is “Yes”. If an instrument is retired, it is “No”.  The (exchange icon) allows you to “toggle” the status between active and retired. 

 

 

To retire an instrument first locate an active instrument (Active? = Yes) by using a filter and / or  a complex search or by scrolling then position your cursor over the (exchange icon) and click.   

 

The following screen will appear:

 

 

Complete the form as follows:

 

  • If you want to change the Retire Date (default is the current date), position your cursor on the field Retired Date and change the date.

  • Position your cursor on the field Retired Reason; a drop-down menu will appear.  Make your selection from the following options:

     

Reason Code

Reason

Expired

Instrument has reached robot-use maximum.

MaxReprocess

Instrument has reached sterile reprocessing maximum.

Defective

Instrument is defective, broken, etc.

Other

Other reason


  • If you want to add a comment about this retirement, position your cursor on the field Retired Comment and type the comment.  

  • Review all the information on the screen.  If it is complete and accurate press the Submit button.  To close this screen click the “X” in the upper right corner of the screen; you will be returned to the Instrument Dashboard and the Retire function will be abandoned.
